The Royal Society
The partnership between DeepStore and The Royal Society began in 2009, following a full tendering process to select an off-site storage provider. The Societys storage needs were diverse, as they boast an unrivalled collection of both contemporary records and archives, dating from 1660, as well as an important library collection containing books which date from the 1400s.
DeepStore managed to facilitate all of the Societys requirements using their unique 2-Tier storage system. DeepStores BS5454:2000 compliant standards met with the Royal Societys archival requirements; long term storage was provided at DeepStores underground facility in Winsford and quick and convenient access to live records was provided at the above ground facility in Bromley-by-Bow.
In addition to its general storage requirements, the Society also came to DeepStore with 7,550 boxes of modern administrative records which required auditing; these were transferred to the Bromley-by-Bow facility, which boasts an on-site room dedicated to this task. The ongoing audit entailed implementing a safe destruction and weeding policy, as well as re-boxing material required for long term storage.
"The smooth transition of records has been managed by DeepStore brilliantly. DeepStores commitment and service was a key strength in their tender process as well as the Online Protocol Service they offer, allowing us to access our data 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This has proved to be invaluable to us."
Nichola Court, Archivist for Modern Records.
